Led by Heisman Trophy Candidate QB Dennis Dixon, No. 4 Oregon defeated No.5 Arizona State 35-23 on  Saturday.

November 3, 2007

(Philadelphia, Pa) --- Led by dual-threat quarterback Dennis Dixon, the Oregon Ducks (8-1, 5-1 Pac-10) are now in the heart of national title race.  The mercurial quarterback finished with numbers 13-of-22 passes for 189 yards and four touchdowns, and he also ran for 57 yards in the big win over the "overrated" Arizona State Sun Devils.

Dixon now seems to be the odds on favorite to be in New York City for the Heisman Trophy presentation as he was cool and calm in engineering the big win over the previously undefeated Sun Devils (8-1, 5-1).  The victory in front of the state of Oregon's biggest crowd of 53,379 was the Ducks second consecutive victory over a Top 10 team (USC last week).

Dixon ended the day on the sidelines with an injury (twisted knee), but he seemed okay after the game as he was engulfed by the Ducks faithful.   After the game Dixon said " I have never been to New York CIty, but I would like to go", well I have a strong feeling that the Ducks leader will be there in December.  The two-time Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Week (Weeks 2 and 4) and semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award has had a stellar season through 9 games throwing for 167-246 (67.9%), 2074 yards, 20 TDs, and 3 INTs plus rushing numbers of 549 yards w/ 8 TDs.

I will also be at the Heisman trophy presentation and I will have a full report for you at the event.
